Together my parents modeled to me the importance of working hard and tirelessly to serve and improve my community. My parents exhibited these traits daily through their chosen professions, my mother was an educator and my father was a pharmacist who operated his pharmacy business for over 40 years. I strive to live up to this same ideal; along with many other invaluable traits they taught me throughout my life.
After completing law school at Syracuse University College of Law in 1996 I returned to my hometown of Sumter and began my career as an attorney. In the beginning of my legal career I worked as an Associate Attorney for 2 lawyers prominent in Sumter, John Miles, Esquire and J. David Weeks, Esquire.
In 1999 I became a partner in the law firm of Weeks, Deas, & Hadstate, LLC. As a young lawyer, I worked feverishly to enhance my skills as a litigator and to become proficient in all areas of the law. During these early years, I realize how truly blessed I was.
Through my legal counsel and advocacy I was given many opportunities to have a positive impact on the lives of people I encounter through my law practice. After much deliberation, prayer, and contemplation with the entrepreneurial spirit I inherited from my parents, I founded my own law firm.
Since The Deas Law Firm, LLC opened its doors for the first time in January 2004, we have continued to reach out and lift up those who call on us for help. With diligence and hard work we, along with our clients, have had many success stores. As the firm continued to grow I purchased a law office building in downtown Sumter, steeped in law history, it was formerly owned by one of Sumter’s “Lawyer Legends”, the late M.M. “Rusty” Weinberg Jr., Esquire.
In addition to practicing law, I am intricately involved in a number of profession, civic, and service organization in both my hometown of Sumter, South Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina where I currently reside with my family.
